overview
Space for Her is a research-led design initiative by Designed for Good, developed in partnership with PVR Nest and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Using the Anupam PVR Complex in Saket as its site, the project explored how public spaces could be made safer, more accessible and inclusive for women through research, community participation and practical design interventions.

approach
The project followed a human-centred, research-driven design process, beginning with understanding how women experience public spaces rather than immediately proposing physical interventions. The wider research engaged 1,000+ women aged 16–66 through surveys, interviews and focus group discussions, supported by methods such as sensory mapping and user journey charts. The findings examined public space through sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and instinct, revealing how physical infrastructure and everyday social experiences can influence feelings of comfort, safety and belonging. As part of my internship, I participated in the collaborative process through field research, interactions with local communities, workshops and visits to government schools. These experiences helped inform the team's design thinking and the development of interventions for the Anupam PVR Complex.
